Miriam Stevens and Moses Terrell Brooks. John Wesley Steele had brown eyes and red hair
and whiskers. Supposedly he ran away
from home at age 12, fought in the
Civil War, but no record has been found of his military service. He lived in the Flippen area of Henry Co. and
later in Spalding Co near Griffin, GA.

marriages.

double ceremony on November 15, 1849.
The Pair sisters’ parents – Whitman “Whit” C Pair married Virginia
Phillips, daughter of Jonathan Phillips.
They had 8 children. Whit served
with Co G, 63rd Regiment, Army of TN.
The parents of the Pair sisters were – William M Pair, b c1799 in NC and
Paralie C Carroll, b. c 1799. Bothe
parents died in 1860 in Henry Co. GA.

shows a W M, William Steele, age 50, farmer, real estate valued at $1,000 and
personal goods valued at $500. Julia, W
F, age 35, occupation – keeping house.
Hudson-Pair Cemetery History
It is located in Land Lot 35
of the 7th District of Henry County, McDonough, GA. Directions:
I-75 south to exit 222, Jodeco/Flippen, East on Jodeco Road which will
dead end into GA Hwy 42, left. Take a
brief right on Campground road. The
cemetery is on the left at GA Hwy 42 and Campground Road. Formerly White House
BBQ restaurant was in front of the cemetery until 1998. A chain link fence is around the
cemetery. Community records show this
cemetery was purchased from William Hudson, who had originally set aside this
property for a community burial ground.
Hiram Lester, age 128 at his death and Ed Lester, his son, 108 at death
are buried here. However, no grave
markers are found. There are many stones
without descriptions. Other
burials: Whitman “Whit” C Pair was married to Virginia
Phillips, daughter of Jonathan Phillips.
They had 8 children. Wit served
with Company G, 63rd Regiment, Army of TN. John Newton Lovorn, Sr., son of James
Lovorn, Sr. and Hana Smith was married to Martha Lovorn and had 7
children. Henry Smith Steele was married
to Elizabeth Ann Pair, daughter of Whitman & Virginia Pair. They had one
child, John Wesley Steele. Elizabeth and
JW Steele are buried at Salem Baptist Church Cemetery, McDonough, GA. Robert Steele married Mary Ann Edelman ant
they had 4 children. William G Steele
married Julia Ann Pair, sister to Julia and Whitman. They had 8 children.

Hello! I am elated to have stumbled upon this page after seeing a hint for Henry Smith Steele on ancestry! John W Steele was my 3rd great grandfather. My father was Rob Steele, and my grandfather was Marvin Steele of Meriwether county.
